A BIKE FOR THE WAY RIDERS RIDE Caledonia doesn't fit in a box nicely, and we like it that way. It was conceived on our Thursday night rides-routes that often play fast and loose with 'road ride.' As we tried to stuff bigger tires into our R5s and streamline our Asperos, a new kind of bike was born. When we design a bike, we start with our library of tube shapes. These shapes are tubes we've used on other models that we know to have various qualities-aerodynamic, stiff, ultralight, etc.-and they help get us to the refinement stage on a bike more quickly. In the case of Caledonia, we wanted durability, lightweight, and aerodynamics to be in balance and selected a package that achieved the performance demands of this kind of race bike. Caledonia uses a standard round bar, stem, and seat post, giving riders the option to build their ultimate ride without compromise. Integrated accessory mounts and hidden fender mounts keep the bike's refined lines so you can ride with lights and computers in a downpour and still look fast. Because we all know if it looks fast, it probably is. Rather than designing multiple versions of the bike with various fit profiles (R5, R-Series, etc.) like we've done in the past, we designed a system that enables a broad range of fits on a single bike while maintaining the aesthetic and functional cleanliness we demand. Modern road riders are looking for bikes to handle long-distance, high pace, no limits, and offer maximum fun. A NEW BIKE FOR CLASSIC RIDES We don't see road bikes as delicate machines meant only for putting watts into and receiving speed from. They're an extension of our soul, of the way we want to see our worlds, and the lives we want to live. Sometimes that means cutting across park grass, and sometimes it's seeing where that dirt road off to the left leads you. The Caledonia-5 is a bike for the modern road rider. The Caledonia is the bike we keep reaching for when we know the odometer's going well past the triple-digit mark. Long rides invariably have some smooth tarmac, some junk pavement over backroads, a cutty singletrack connector, and maybe even your own local Strade Bianche sector. We developed the Caledonia-5 in collaboration with our World Tour riders to satisfy the need for a dedicated cobbles bike. Faster handling isn't necessarily better-we engineered the handling based on the specific use-case. In this case, it's Roubaix. Roubaix is harder on bikes than any other race on the calendar, and there's zero margin for error. We increased the rear center, lowered the BB, and increased the trail. TWO-POSITION ADJUSTMENT - Trail (front-wheel response to rider input) is the most critical factor in high-velocity handling. Flipping the two-position "Trail Mixer" to compensate for the difference in circumference between a 650b and 700c tire maintains consistent handling by maintaining consistent trail figures. BALANCED HANDLING - Stiffness and handling work together to ensure the bike tracks predictably and responds immediately to critical pedal and bracing inputs.

We think that makes sense, and it's what we were trying to do when we were stuffing bigger tires into our existing frames and swapping in aftermarket forks to get a 40mm tire up front. - Multiple Configurations We designed Aspero with clearance for up to 700c x 40mm tires or 650b x 49mm tires. Of course, there are variables—rim width, tire casing, and tread depth—which will affect final clearance. We always recommend 4mm of clearance between the tire and frame. **New Shimano road (not gravel) 12-speed front derailleurs reduce tire clearance in the rear of the frame to 700 x 38c or 650b x 45c. - Two Position Adjustment Trail—front-wheel response to rider input—is the most critical factor in high-velocity handling. Flipping the two-position "Trail Mixer" to compensate for the difference in circumference between a 650b and 700c tire maintains consistent handling by maintaining consistent trail figures. - Balanced Handling Stiffness and handling work together to ensure the bike tracks predictably and responds immediately to critical pedal and bracing inputs.

What if we took everybody's favorite bike and made it a little slacker and little longer? Hell, what if we made it more progressive and coil compatible? And, that's exactly what we did for the Ripmo V2. Active ingredients include: 29" wheels, berm-defying cornering tendencies, and a love for long rides. The Rip­mo and Rip­mo AF share the same steep, 76-degree seat tube angle and a rangy but not stratos­pher­ic reach, which places rid­ers cen­tral­ly over the ped­als. It makes for an effi­cient posi­tion that can go the long haul. The slack 64.9 head­tube angle and 44mm reduced-off set fork doesn't wan­der while climb­ing, and doesn't hold you back descend­ing. It works—all day up, all day down, all day in between. TRACTION TUNE Our cus­tom-tuned front and rear sus­pen­sion fea­ture extra-light high-speed com­pres­sion and rebound damp­ing to deliv­er unpar­al­leled trac­tion. This allows the wheels to flut­ter through ter­rain like a tro­phy truck storm­ing through a set of whoops. COIL COMPATIBLE The Rip­mo V2 is com­pat­i­ble with both coil and air shocks due to a more pro­gres­sive lever­age rate. On the trail, it gives the sus­pen­sion a sup­ple feel throughout the entire­ty of the stroke, enhanc­ing trac­tion no mat­ter how deep you dig. DROPPER POST CLEARANCE Mo' drop­per, mo' bet­ter. On small frames, you can run 125 – 150mm, depend­ing on your pref­er­ence and inseam length. On Medi­um, Large, and X-Large, a 160mm—or, why not run a 185mm? Our short­er seat-tube lengths and low standovers allow you to choose your size based on your reach preference. TIRE CLEARANCE You can run over­built, chunky tires; you can run light, big vol­ume fast tires, but what­ev­er you run, know that you're not lim­it­ed by width. BUSHINGS Tired of hit­ting "pur­chase" on anoth­er set of bear­ings each sea­son? So were we. That's why we use bush­ings where they make sense, and bear­ings where they don't. The IGUS bush­ings in our low­er link are lighter, stiffer, and vir­tu­al­ly main­te­nance-free. We believe so strong­ly in them, we back them with a free life­time replacement.
